Algeria 0 - 4 Egypt - Egypt beats the Algerian arrogance

.One of the most remarkable facts in world soccer must be the fact that Egypt hasn't played in a World Cup since 1990. Egyptian clubs always fare well in the CAF Champions League winning five tournaments in the last decade. At the same time the Egyptian national team has absolutely dominated the African Cup of Nations almost making the tournament their own personal fiefdom. The Pharaohs are on pace to write another piece of history into the record book after thrashing North African rival Algeria Thursday 4-0 in the semifinals of the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola. Egypt will play Ghana in Sunday's final looking to become the first country to win the bi-annual competition three straight times. A win would give the Pharaohs who haven't lost in the competition since 2004 their seventh overall title -- also a record. Thursday's semifinal victory was a bit of revenge for Egypt which lost to Algeria 1-0 for the final African World Cup spot on Nov. 18 2009 in a match played in Sudan. Egypt made sure to inflict as much insult to injury as possible as Algeria finished the match with only eight men. The final insult came when keeper Faouzi Chaouchi was sent off in the final five minutes for his second yellow of the game. Chaouchi was likely living on borrowed time anyway as he actually head-butted the referee for his first yellow card following Abd Rabo's 39th minute penalty which put Egypt ahead 1-0. The penalty decision came on the first sending-off for Algeria when defender Rafik Halliche picked up his second yellow for dragging down Emad Moteab in the box. Cahouchi was upset with the ref since Rabo made a full pause and waited until the keeper committed to a side before kicking the ball. But it didn't matter much ahead a goal Egypt basically toyed with Algeria the rest of the match twisting the proverbial knife into the backs of their rival with every complete pass. Mohamed Zidan ensured the victory with a nice goal in the 60th minute. The blood began to boil over for Algeria the rest of the match. Portsmouth defender Nadir Belhajd sent his team back to nine men with an awful-looking two-footed tackle in the 70th minute. Egypt tacked on two more goals in the final 10 minutes behind Mohamed Abdel-Shafy and Geddo as Algeria was nearly powerless to stop them. Suffice to say the sides didn't exchange handshakes after the completion of the game. Now Egypt faces Ghana in Sunday's final a match that presents a fun contrast. Ghana without Michael Essien is playing a lineup full of 19 and 20 year old kids. Meanwhile Egypt is a veteran squad full of seasoned pros some in their late 30s. Should be a good one. For U.S. fans watching the lack of discipline displayed by Algeria was jarring. It seems the Desert Foxes can be rattled especially defensively. When the U.S. and Algeria play in the World Cup on June 23 the ref might sprain his wrist digging for cards in his pocket.

fellagha13 @TheEgyptianOne1 It has to do a lot... I am not the only one to say it.. All Africans are complaining about it... 95 % of the staff in CAF HQ is Egyptian... They decide everything: the referee, they lobby UEFA in Geneva... Imagine just the opposite: what would happenned if 3 egyptians players were stoned and bleeding in Algeria ??? Oh my god ! fellagha13 You always win African Cup cuz HQ of CAF is located in Cairo... If you were that good, how come you've have not qualified for World Cup for more than 24 years now... fellagha13 During this game, the whole world witnessed that the referee was paid... 1st yellow card to Hallich is a simply joke ! There is no penalty... Actually, Egypt has played 11 players + the referee against 8 Algerian players... Actually we were proud loosing this way, cuz it has prooved nothing, and I would be very ashamed to win this way...
